An active member of the Hartford jazz scene, Mae has performed at venues across Connecticut and New York. Her sound is influenced by artists including Jackie McLean, Charlie Parker, Carmen McRae, Amy Winehouse and Donny Hathaway. Through her song, Mae seeks to honor the American music tradition and capture the essence and emotion of the music’s origins. Stephen “King” Porter , born and raised in Hartford, began playing the bass at an early age in church in the gospel music scene.
